Girls Camp works towards gaining American Camping Association Accreditation! A two-member accreditation team visited Fourth Debsconeag Lake on August 5 and had a great time exploring the campus. The 100-year-old ACA accredits more than 2,400 camps, ensuring that they meet recognized standards for health, safety, and program quality. Accreditation provides a camp with “solid proof of your accountability, credibility, and commitment,” says the ACA. “It demonstrates you have gone to great lengths, have been evaluated, and have passed the test!” The Accreditation visit went extremely well. One of the visitors reflected that “It is an amazing program, held in a magical location. You and your staff do a wonderful job, your leadership could be seen in every aspect of camp life.” The official vote to retain the Accreditation seal will be held at the November 2010 ACA board meeting.
