Last night we celebrated the Solstice with a group gathering around the camp fire. First the staff had evening program which included a solo. For those of you returning to camp this will all sound familiar. For those coming for the first time know that it is all fun and great time with friends. It is now less than a week until the campers arrive and as staff we continue to prepare. Those of us new to 4th Debsconeag continue to work to get a sense of physical place. For lunch today we all packed sandwiches and hiked up the cliffs where we had a chance to look out upon the lakes and continue to get a sense of where we are. Where we are is in a BEAUTIFUL location in northern Maine where we see blues and greens and drink water that is cold and delicious. Returning to camp we spent some refreshing lifeguarding skills and practicing rescues, as well as planning details for the trips. The fun part of girls camp is EVERYONE goes out on a trip. The staff are engrossed in the maps and menus in preparation. Campers, we will see you on Tuesday in Wiscasset. Remember to pack for the drive to 4th Debsconeag: bring a day pack with rain gear, water bottle, warm clothes and wear good walking shoes.
