I enjoyed a great lunch today with 1/2 of the Saltwater girls. They were buzzing with conversation… stories of reptiles with names (they met Chewonki’s reptiles last night during the Outreach presentation -Ona our Bearded Dragon Lizard and Okke our American Alligator, to name a couple), swimming and sliding down at the waterfront, crafting bead bracelets, climbing in the barn, chopping wood, baking over a fire, and on, and on. They have done so much over the last couple of days, and, it is wonderful to hear their reflections on how it is going, as well as see their excitement for what is to come. As I write this we have a group touring and helping out at our farm, and another group exploring and learning about ponds (and catching frogs). I saw many hands go up showing excitement to swim during this afternoon’s choice block, and a few campers excited about hiking around Chewonki neck trails to look for animal houses. Another day full of adventure!
