Second session girls’ camp trips are nearing the end of their adventures in the woods and on the water. Over the past weeks, each group has had opportunities to develop and/or hone technical as well as interpersonal skills. As your daughters ticked off each day’s itinerary, they learned about navigating a variety of water conditions, the mechanics of handling their boats and paddling strokes, the joy of a good portage, and the satisfaction of scaling a mountain. Along the way, they developed an understanding about how they can successfully lead others, the importance of good communication, the power of positive thinking, and the strength and sustainability that can be found in a community that watches out for one another.
The trips will be arriving back on campus in Wiscasset on Saturday afternoon where they will clean up from their trips and begin the work of processing and celebrating their experiences. Our time will culminate in a festive banquet on Sunday followed by a closing campfire that evening before each participant departs on Monday. During that time, we know that they will regale us with their many stories of lessons learned and laughter shared. We can’t wait to welcome them back.
