The staff have arrived safely at 4th Debsconeag for two weeks of preparation. We are going through many of the same experiences as the campers will when they come to camp. Staff first arrived in Wiscasset, loaded vehicles, trailers and traveled to northern Maine along highways, small roads and dirt roads. The launch came and greeted us at the the landing.
Once unloaded, we went swimming and then quickly jumped into canoes to have our canoe skills tested.
This morning we are heading out to paddle the West Branch and then into the Debsconeag Chain, a route familiar to many campers. We’ve gone over out trip itinerary, packed, and the boat just left to take our stuff to the trailers. Blueberry muffins and fresh strawberries fill our stomachs.
First session campers arrive in 2 weeks and we look forward to it. Lake Debsconeag is beautiful. Two loons were in the swim area this morning, the fish are jumping. The sunrise was gold! We look forward to the arrival of campers.
Campers: What are you looking forward to?
