The Leadership Training group, aka North Stars, have provided much guidance this session. The girls all successfully completed a Lifeguarding course and are all now certified lifeguards. Many Kudos to the leaders Kate Braemer and Christina Roach for their continued organization and leadership with this group. Yesterday the girls practiced tumping both their boats as well as wannagans. Tumping is a native tradition of using a leather headstrap to tie to cargo, aka boat or wannagan, which then distributes the load through the spine to make carrying easier. The girls will paddle away from camp in boats tomorrow morning and be out on trail until July 16th. For their trip the girls have packed their own food, planned their routes, go over their maps, practiced using their stoves, compasses, and tents. They are ready to go. Safe Travels North stars.
