The girls are paddling well at Big Eddy, having weathered some weather . They worked hard on their wet exits, set up a nice camp , and are now loving the warm sunshine… Read on for notes from the participants. Jess B. Co- Leader PWW We were off to a slow start with the rain changing our plans left and right. However with the sun in the sky, moods have become bright and paddling technique has improved. With a little more practice we will be on class 2 rapids in no time! Chris Co-Leader PWW Enduring nightly lightening drills, starting fires with wet wood and dealing with damp gear has brought our group together into a tight- knit, supportive community. We’ve had sunny days on the river which have brightened our moods and jump-started our paddling abilities. Our group is making great progress, and having fun on the river each day. We’re on our way to becoming confident whitewater paddlers! Anastasia , 15 years old I like the weather. When it is sunny day and no rain. I like that we have a lot of free time to relax, swim, to chat. I like to cook and to kayak, especially to cross the river. Shania , 16 years old What I’ve liked the most about this wilderness trip is connecting with the other girls that I’ll hopefully remain friends with and just over all learning to go through the rapids. Heli Sanchez, 16 years old I do things out of my comfort zone, not for the benefit of myself , but because when I get back to Boston I can tell my siblings about it and since they look up to me, then maybe they’ll do it as well. What I like the most is that this place is so different than others, but something about this place let me be myself without judgment and let me overcome the fear of water….sort of. 🙂 Gisela, 16 years old I came to this camp to see the real world, to discover new things about myself and to listen , feel and see how others look at the world. It’s so amazing here. Ada 14, years old I’ve been coming to this camp since it started (Chewonki Girls Camp) . It is my second home. This year has been fantastic, maybe my best year yet. Olivia 14, years old I have been coming to camp (Chewonki Girls Camp) for 3 years. I always look forward to meeting new friends, breathing the fresh air and learning new things. I think I am accomplishing all of them.
