The staff went on a 4 day Canoe trip. We were dropped off at the West Branch of the Penobscot and paddled our way home. Along the way we enjoyed each other’s company, the company of moose, loons, vultures, waterfalls, bugs, swims, good meals, and good fun. We mastered portaging our canoes and gear and used Tump lines to help.
Nearly home, we were stopped for a floating lunch about to hit the portage trail from 3rd Debsconeag to 4th Debsconeag and this Dragon fly Larva landed on Jen Goldstein. The dragonfly then landed on a tent bag and decided it was time to emerge. 6 canoes sat rafted up while 12 trip leaders watched the dragonfly emerge. The body emerged. The wings grew and grew. Magically. We watched with baited breath and eventually a pair of gossamer and glistening wings blossomed. A pleasant surprise.
